4 Ways to Make Your Home “Smarter”

November 30, 2021 by Ally Leave a Comment

“Smart” is the latest buzzword. New “smart” tech products are emerging every day, and many of them are making our lives easier than ever. Your home is no exception. Smart devices can boost your home’s efficiency, make it safer, and even control your appliances. If you’re a tech lover and are interested in seeing some of the ways your home could be more efficient, here are some of the ways that you can make your home a “smart” one.

Get Smart Security

While traditional home security systems are still effective, smart home security systems are often more affordable and can be installed yourself without the help of a professional. It’s as easy as controlling everything in your home with a few clicks on your phone. You can do something as simple as install cameras, or place sensors throughout your home to detect movement— it all depends on how secure you want to feel. If you’re looking for a way to feel safer and in control of your security settings, a smart security system is the way to go.

Smart Temperature Control

It’s an all too common scenario: you leave the house and get to work only to realize that you left your heater on. With a smart thermostat you can easily control your home’s temperature from the palm of your hand no matter where you are. In addition to remote temperature adjustments, you can also adjust temperatures with the control of your voice.

This is especially handy if you’re cooking or tying your hands up in some other activity, and you have to adjust the temperature. It’s also incredibly helpful if you have multiple family members with different temperature tastes. One child may get extremely hot at night while one gets very cold. Smart thermostats allow you to control each room individually so that everyone has the temperature they’re comfortable with.

Time Your Breakfast

Imagine this—it’s a Sunday morning and you’ve just slept in. You feel like coffee, so you tell your coffee machine with a simple voice command that it’s time for your morning espresso. By the time you reach the kitchen it’s already made for you, and you don’t even have to pay a maid to do it! That’s right— just like the Jetsons, now you can put your morning toast and coffee on a timer too. Simply set up everything the night before, and your smart appliances can prepare it for you from the palm of your hand.

Get a Smart Assistant

A smart home assistant like Alexa or Google Home is incredibly convenient for your daily to-do’s. You can play music, keep up with your Amazon orders, and even add items to your grocery list, all with the sound of your voice.

Initially, a smart home may sound a little futuristic, and possibly even intimidating. However, you’ll find that it enhances your lifestyle, and makes everything much easier.
