3 Tips For Getting A Bigger Yield From Your Garden This Year

July 18, 2022 by Ally Leave a Comment

Whether you’re a farmer who makes their living off of the crops they’re able to harvest or just someone who has a small garden that they tend during the summer months, your main goal is likely to get as much from your plants as you can when harvest time comes. But if you haven’t had a lot of luck with this in the past, you’ll be able to know that there are all kinds of things that you can try to improve.

To help you see how this can be done, here are three tips for getting a bigger yield from your garden this year.

Choose The Right Plants

The very first thing you can do to help get a bigger yield from the plants that you have in your garden is to choose the right plants to begin with.

While you might like a certain kind of plant that you want to have in your garden, if those plants aren’t ideal for the environment that you live in, trying to get them to flourish in your garden is going to be very hard, if not impossible. Knowing this, you should try to really only plant seeds that you know will thrive in your area. This way, you’ll be giving your plants the best chance of growing well in your garden and of you being able to get the best yield.

Rethink How You Water

Another thing that you can do to help your garden grow well is to rethink what you’ve been doing to water your plants.

If your plants aren’t getting enough water or are getting too much water, it can be hard for them to grow as much as they are capable of. Because of this, you may want to look into getting a smart water valve for your irrigation system. With this, the amount of water that your plants get will be based on the environment and what they need. Additionally, you may want to try to make better use of rainwater to help water your plants as well, since the pH of rainwater is often preferred by plants.

Consider Using Raised Beds

Taking your plants out of the ground and planting them in raised beds could also have a positive impact on the yield of your garden. This is possible because you can have a lot more control over the soil that you have in a raised bed. You can more easily mix in soil that is rich in nutrients when you use a raised bed or a planter as opposed to when you have to try to work with the soil that you have in the ground.

If you’re wanting to have the best yield yet from your garden or crops, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you achieve this goal.
