5 DIY Upgrades You Should Make To Your Home Right Now

June 1, 2021 by Ally Leave a Comment

Making upgrades to your home may seem unattainable to you because of costs or because you don’t feel like your skill levels are high enough. But there are lots of things you can do that will make a huge positive and noticeable difference in your home and the best news is that many of them you can do yourself with very little time commitment and expense. Here are 5 do-it-yourself upgrades that you should make to your home as soon as possible.

Install A Bidet

You may have an idea in your head that bidets are expensive or difficult to install, but over the past few years the opposite has actually become true! Bidets have become increasingly popular even among lower-middle class people because modern models are quite inexpensive and super easy to put in. Popular brands boast a 30 minute installation time requiring minimal tools and they can be put on just about any type of toilet.

If you don’t think getting a bidet will change your life, think twice. Not only will you always feel clean in all the right places but you’ll also save tons of money on toilet paper. Adding a bidet is step one in installing a modern bathroom in your home, and lucky for you it’s probably the easiest step!

Add Curtains

Blinds, though functional, are usually pretty unsightly and can really ruin the vibe of your home. Adding curtains really helps to complete a room and make it feel much more warm and inviting. They help to cover the ugly blinds, plus they’re functional in their own right, helping to cover your windows. Curtains come in all different types of colors and fabrics at so many different price points, and they are so fast and easy to install – anyone can do it. They even make special black-out curtains meant to keep your bedroom nice and dark so you can get a better night’s sleep!

Paint

Painting a room, or even just an accent wall, can be a huge upgrade in your home, costs under $50, and only takes a weekend to complete. You definitely don’t need to be a professional to paint a couple of walls and you’ll be pleasantly surprised how much better it will make your home look.

Swap Out Light Bulbs

Swap any bright white bulbs for lower lighting and go for a warm yellow glow. Everything in your home will look better in this type of light and it will make your home feel much more modern and homey. New light bulbs are super inexpensive and installing them couldn’t be more simple.

Upgrading your home doesn’t have to be difficult, stressful, or expensive. And making small changes like those above will make your home a much happier place to be.
