5 Ways to Ensure Your Child Has an Amazing Birthday

July 7, 2020 by Ally Leave a Comment

Everyone loves a good birthday. And, however you celebrate, most people agree about the importance of a celebration. Your child deserves a fantastic birthday party — and it isn’t impossible to give them one.

Remember to plan by age. What worked for your children in infancy will not work the same in their teens. Don’t let public health emergencies or financial issues stop you from doing so. It’s important to celebrate your child’s birthday, even if you have to do it virtually. And there are also several ways to celebrate a birthday on a tight budget. Use these tips to start planning the next party for your child.

Choose a theme.

Children love a themed party, but there are also advantages for parents. If you pick one theme, it will be easy to plan everything from party invitations to cake. And don’t forget about the gift bags. You may not think these will help your child have a fantastic day. After all, they’re going to the guests.

However, a display of themed goody bags will set the mood and increase excitement. Don’t spend too much — children are pretty easy to please if you plan it right. Instead of looking for expensive toys, look for fun and playful items for the gift bags. For example, buy do-it-yourself kits or games they can play at the next event.

Focus on the activities.

Excellent décor and a showstopper cake will set the mood, but don’t stop there. Children need good entertainment to keep busy. A great way to start is by asking your child what they want. These days, you can get everything from a water slide to a water slide bounce house in your backyard.

For the best birthday, make sure you get high-quality entertainment. Look for companies that do corporate events as they’re usually more trustworthy. Hire an animal expert, a face artist, or a DJ. You can also consider slide rentals. For example, on the day of the event, set up a dry slide, inflatable slides, or a bounce house. Rental equipment is perfect for a backyard birthday party. While it’s easy to set some of it up yourself, you may need a professional to set up some of the slide rentals. For example, don’t try to set up the inflatable water slide or bounce house on your own. Inflatable water slide rentals are cheaper than an amusement park — all you need is a water source. And, on hot summer days, they’re just as much fun for kids. Remember to pick a trusted brand for a water slide rental — you want children to be safe!

Adults may not want to get on an inflatable water slide, but they can still get in on the fun. Set up an inflatable pool so they can relax and watch their kids play on the water slides. If you have grown-up children, set up an obstacle course outside. Or, host an indoor birthday party with the best selection of video games and rented consoles. You can even make a movie night fun if you pick a range of exciting films.

Give them their space.

There’s nothing kids hate more than being over-parented at a party. You may leave your children to their own devices, but all parents won’t follow suit. To avoid any helicopter parenting issues, have a separate party for the adults. Your child will be grateful for the freedom.

If the children are too young to celebrate unsupervised, hire a party planner. A catering service can help serve food for adults as well as more child-friendly options. Even with grown-ups present, party planners create separate spaces so children feel freer.

Interactive food is always fun.

Make every aspect of the party fun for your child and their friends. Yes, this includes food. Instead of just serving a cake, put out mini cakes and frosting and let the children decorate their own. Of course, have a themed birthday cake on hand, too, so your child feels extra special.

You can make almost any food an interactive experience by making the children participants in assembling it. Try make-your-own sundaes and create-your-own pizzas. Offer the children a variety of options and let them go crazy.

Capture the memories.

Ensure the memories of your child’s fantastic birthday party don’t fade with time. Hire a photographer or videographer so you can get high-quality memories. If your child likes photography, this is also an excellent way to get the kids involved. Encourage them all to take pictures and record the day. It’s a fun activity for children that will double as a way to capture the memories.

And, remember, store these in their original resolution. To ensure you have space for all the pictures, consider cloud storage over a regular hard drive. An external hard drive may not have enough storage space. You may have to sort through each folder and image file to save the best. Or, worse, you might not be able to save camera uploads in their original quality. And, even with an online backup service, you can still lose the images.

A cloud service with reliable cloud picture backups will help preserve birthday memories. Your guests can upload pictures from any operating system. They can use a mobile device, a camera, or a desktop app. With an internet connection and the cloud service, you’ll have lasting memories of your child’s party.
