3 Tips For Staging Your Home For An Open House

July 19, 2021 by Ally Leave a Comment

If you’re going to be putting your home on the market soon, one great way to ensure that you’re able to get multiple offers that come in at top dollar is to schedule an open house. However, simply opening up your home to potential buyers won’t necessarily be your best bet. To really have people chomping at the bit to purchase your home, you’re going to have to make it look and feel irresistible. And to do this, you’ll have to properly stage your entire property.

To help you see how this can be done, here are three tips for staging your home for an open house.

Begin With The Exterior Of The Home

The first place you should start when staging your home is with the exterior. The outside of your home is the first thing people will see when they pull up to your property, so you want to make sure that you make a great first impression.

Along with taking measures that will boost the curb appeal of your home, like adding a fresh coat of paint and planting some flowers, you’ll also want to make it easy for potential buyers to see how safe and stable the home is. This can be done by clearing away bushes or debris from the foundation of the home. So long as you have a deep and firm foundation under your home, you should want to showcase this feature to buyers just as much as the features inside of your home.

Get Rid Of Any Old Furniture

Many people might think that staging their home simply means cleaning up the inside like you would if you were having guests over. However, staging needs to go a bit beyond this mark.

In many homes, people have and use far more items than they should leave in the home when it’s being staged. This is especially the case when it comes to furniture. So if you have old or worn out pieces of furniture, or just too much furniture in any given room, you should remove these pieces and rent something newer and cleaner for potential buyers to see in the space as they walk through.

Clear Off Every Flat Surface

The whole point of having an open house is to try to get potential buyers to fall in love with your home and envision themselves living there. But if all of your stuff is covering every surface, it can be very hard for them to picture themselves in that space.

To combat this, it’s best to clear off every flat surface in the home from all of your personal belongings. Get this stuff completely out of the house during showings so potential buyers don’t find everything just shoved in a closet. And if you do leave something on a flat surface, make sure it’s purely there for decoration.

If you’re having an open house soon, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you get ready to stage your space.
