3 Tips For Finding A Reputable Company To Replace Your Roof

April 22, 2021 by Ally Leave a Comment

When it comes to making serious home repairs, you really only want to trust a serious company to the job. However, for big things like replacing your roof, you likely don’t have a favorite roofer on the top of your head that you can call since replacing a roof isn’t something that you have to do very often. So now comes the chore of wading through the internet to find the right match for you.

To help make this task a little easier to manage, here are three tips for finding a reputable company to replace your roof.

Make Sure They’re Professional

As you sift through all the candidates to replace your roof, one thing you’ll want to keep an eye out for is professionalism.

According to HomeAdvisor, the minimum qualifications for a roofer or roofing company to be considered professional is for them to have liability insurance, a business license, and to be bonded. If someone that you’re looking at doesn’t have these things, you may want to move on to your next option. Hiring a company or a person that is licensed, insured, and bonded will help you feel more confident that you’re getting a qualified and reputable person to do the job right when it comes to replacing your roof.

See If Their Estimate Makes Sense

For most people, it’s not just the best person that you’re trying to get to replace your roof; you’re also looking for someone who’s going to give you a good bang for your buck.

To get some bearing on this, it’s good to know how much general maintenance, repairs, and replacements cost for work on a roof. According to Danielle Fallon, to fully replace your roof, you’ll usually pay between $5,000 and $10,000. Knowing this, if the estimate you’re given doesn’t fall well within this window, you may need to think twice about whether or not this person is trying to take advantage of you in one way or another.

Ask About Their Plan For Waste Removal

Replacing a roof means that you’re going to have an entire roof’s worth of material that will need to be disposed of. And since this shouldn’t be your responsibility, the Better Business Bureau shares that one way you can distinguish a reputable roofer from a non-reputable roofer is to ask what their plan is for waste removal and cleanup. If they don’t immediately know or take responsibility for this part of the replacement, you might be dealing with someone who isn’t experienced or is trying to short-change you.

If you’re needing to have your roof replaced soon, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you find a reputable roofer to work with on this big project.
