The Best Christmas Movie EVAH

Our favorite Christmas movie of all time has to be A Christmas Story. It plays on cable TV every year, but we bought the DVD so we can watch it and cackle with glee. For some reason, I can't watch this movie in warm weather.

November is here, and it's almost time to start watching it again...and again and again.

The family uses Fiesta Ware dishes in the movie. In this scene, the plates on the table aren't Fiesta, but you can see Fiesta in the green cupboard in the background. When they eat dinner in the kitchen, you can see Fiesta on the table.

I had never heard about or seen this movie until about 15 years ago and it was all my boss could talk about at Christmas time. It is a funny movie and I use the 'fudge' word sometimes :-)

Funny -- I've never seen this film! I see it on TV, but never watched the whole thing. I will have to try this year . . . our favorites (must see every year) are: It's a wonderful Life, Elf, Home Alone, and "A Christmas Carol" (Alistair Sim.) Of course, the kids have to watch all the cartoons, too. :)

Love this movie! It's been a tradition in my family to watch it every year on Christmas Eve for as long as I can remember. Many years ago I saw a hilarious string of Christmas lights that were all the leg lamp. I still kick myself for not buying them =)

It's my favorite Christmas movie, too, although I choose to watch it only once or twice a season, for fear that I might overdose and lose my taste for it! Jean Shepherd is one of my favorite authors. I used to listen to him on the radio in NYC in the 60's.

That's how OLD I am.

I even saw the movie when it first came out. Who knew it would become a classic? For anyone who actually grew up in a time when you had to go into the winter weather with wool snowsuits, it's even funnier.

My favorite scenes are the tire changing scene, the Chinese restaurant song, the dogs in the kitchen, and of course, the flagpole incident.

LOVE this movie... to be honest, I didn't actually see it until about 10 years ago when a co-worker loaned it to us... of course I never saw it's a wonderful life until then either. I grew up in the Rankin/Bass era (i.e. Rudolph) and really never watched Christmas movies until my kids got into them.

I love watching this movie and checking out all the era appropriate items... like jadite, fiesta, the old radio, cool old bathroom, etc.

I never watched that movie until I was married. My husband loves it and now I do too. We moved to Ohio 2 years ago (not near Cleveland). I plan once my youngest gets old enough (he's 2 right now) to know the movie, we'll visit there.

How sad is it that I've never watched this movie. It looks like I need to make it a point to watch it this year. Thanks for the highlights.

What a great post! I think the movie is hilarious and I never noticed the Fiestaware! I have a huge collection of it from my late husband's grandma so I'm a real fan of it. Now I can't wait to pop in the movie so I can see the Fiestaware. Too funny! Your commentary is great. Thanks for my early morning chuckle today!

SOAP POISONING! great line, too. We also love Elf here. Will Ferrell is just so funny and goofy; we love that type of comedy. "I like smiling, smiling's my favorite!"
