A few years ago, I purchased a pack of cards for different occasions. I like to have extra cards at hand in case I need them. The box came with these dividers. They worked well enough, but I decided that I needed more categories.
I took out my scrapbook paper, adhesive, and two punches. I cut the dividers so they measured about five inches by nine inches.
I used scrapbook adhesive to punch out the new labels. Here are the labels I made:
Blank
Birthday
Wedding
Sympathy
Get Well
Baby
Congrats
Thank You
I sorted all of the cards in the dividers. I might make another divider that says "Holiday."
I recently added to my card collection when I came across a stationary store that was going out of business and selling cards for $1 each. If you've ever bought cards from a store, you know what a great deal that is!
This project was quick and easy. Now I can find my cards more easily, thanks to the additional categories. I've been meaning to do this project for a while.
Do you have any little projects you've been meaning to do?

I need to do this! It seems like I'm always running to the store to buy a card. It would be much easier to keep a selection at home like you do.
BTW - I have a dresser in my bedroom that looks identical to the one in your header!
This is so cute!
Love the round lacy labels you used. GREAT idea!
Thanks for sharing.

So great! Glad I'm not the only one who keeps cards on hand!
Coming from the Homemaker on a Dime linky!
this is so organised! I have always meant to do something like this but never have. I do have a box of old cards sorted into categories that the kids use to make cards for friends and family, but something like this would be good for those other occasions.
This is one of those things on my "to-do" list. I bought the boxes about 6 months ago, and they're still in their packets. My MIL is a rep for a card company, and I have TONS of cards. More than I think I could ever use in my lifetime. Yet I still go and buy cards 'cos I can't find them. Crazy huh! I'm going to try and find some time to do this in the next few weeks... Michelle
That's a great way to organize. I like having cards on hand. Also, I read your "House Hunters" post - sooooo true. I agree with Every One of your thoughts!!! Linda
Love this idea! Shared it with our readers at http://aimeeasher.com/shop/2011/07/organize-your-greeting-cards/. Just adorable! Tammy
Yes, I do have a project that I want to do, now that I have seen how pretty your card file looks. Your labels are actually easier to read than the store-bought ones.
I do have a card folder, but it's no where near as cute as yours. Thanks for the idea.
I like to buy dollar store cards for 50 cents each. Or make ones from photos I take.
What an absolutely adorable DIY! Well done.
I hope that you will stop by and enter my giveaway.
Happy Monday!
Nice!
I definitely need to do this! I currently keep them in a folder in our house binder...and then the rest in a box. yikes! Love the labels you made!
Wish I had a card stash as big as yours! I make all my cards, and usually use them as soon as I'm finished! Love your labels -- so pretty!
ah much cuter than the original!! I need to organize my cards! Thank you so much for linking up to Handmade Tuesdays @ Ladybug Blessings! www.ladybug-blessings.com
Popped over from Not Just a Housewife. That's great! I need one of those to organize my cards!
This is such a great idea, definitely on my to do list! Thinking this would make a great gift too!
Love this! Such an excellent mommy solution!
I would love for you to share it on my Wednesday meme!

This is great. I've been meaning to do something like this for my card inventory for years.
Love these cards...I want to be you...that is all.
This is a great idea! Currently I think our Christmas cards are in the attic, and throughout the year, my family is always finding cards we forget to give people (including each other) because we throw cards in the junk drawer with everything else. Your box would solve problems like that. Thanks for sharing!
Great idea, love the labels. Thanks for adding your link to Beach Cottage Good Life Wednesdays.
So cute. I have a little divider box as well, but I like your tabs much better.
Love it! I've been meaning to do this, but just haven't "got around to it"! Thanks for the ideas!
I'm so grateful that you linked up in this week's Creative Bloggers' Party & Hop :) This awesome post totally rocked the party!
what a cute update!
So beautiful! I need this! So cute..thanks for sharing:)
It's always a pleasure to visit your lovely space.
Hope to see you on my blog:)
This is a great idea! I send a lot of cards, too, and always buy cute ones whenever I see them. But mine are all in one pile in a box labeled "Greeting Cards" and I have to go through the whole stack to find the one I need. You've inspired me to get them organized like you did.
Hugs,
Cheryl
I think those are the cutest homemade tabs I've ever seen. What a great project.
Stopping by from SITS.
This is wonderful! I need to do this too. I have a box and dividers already. My old greeting card organizer is falling apart. Great idea! Thanks for sharing it on HSH!
Sherry
Wonderful idea! I make so many cards and just stack them, I guess I need to organize like you! :)
