Wicked Awesome Links

Before I share the Wicked Awesome Links I found this week, I wanted to whine:

Blogger is GIVING ME FITS!!!

I've been having the worst trouble with my blog for a couple of weeks. It seemed to coincide with the big "Blogger Snafu" from a few weeks ago.  I'm having trouble adding photos: it won't let me upload them, and they disappear.  Then they come back, and there are three of them!  Grrrrr...

I'm also having a lot of trouble with spacing in between my texts and photos.  Just when I think I've got everything set, I'll publish, and there will be too much spacing in between!  I've even found some links that are now broken in my Wicked Awesome Wednesday features.

If you see some missing photos, missing links or weird spacing, I'm aware of it and I'm trying to fix the problems.  Is anyone else having Blogger issues? (By the way, I tried Wordpress and really struggled with it, so I guess I'll stick with Blogger for now.)

On to my Wicked Awesome Links for the week:

Did you know that 2011 is the 75 year anniversary of Fiesta Ware? Fiesta has released a stunning soup tureen in a new color, Marigold.
From the Homer Laughlin Fiesta Facebook page
It's such a pretty color; it looks close to the vintage yellow Fiesta Ware color.  It has a suggested retail price of $400, way too much for us, but I thought it was a very interesting collector's piece.  Plus, we are fussy and only buy vintage pieces.

A Slob Comes Clean
Summer is here and many of us are thinking about vacations.  It's never too early to think about how you are going to pay for your vacation.  I found a great article: How We Manage to Pay Cash on Vacation from A Slob Comes Clean.  Nony also shares her struggles about getting her house clean in a very honest way.

Life…Your Way
The site Life...Your Way has a wealth of useful information on everything from blogging to organizing, to decorating, parenting and finances.  The articles are very clearly written, and the site is so clean and easy to navigate.  You'll want to bookmark this site!

Photobucket
If you love pretty photos, you'll love the photos on Maillardville Manor.  Ashli has such a beautiful home, and a beautiful blog.  I love that she has a laundry closet. You also need to see the pretty hallway that she did on a budget.

Happy Sunday!

I need to read A Slob Come Clean daily...

And yes, Blogger is acting weird with me too. The spacing thing and then, it takes three years to upload each image I want. So frustrating.

I know I have other blogging options but I'm a little scared to switch; I'm just now getting comfortable with HTML code on Blogger.

I had some of those problems when I composed my postings on blogger. I write my posts in text edit - you can use word or anything like that - I copy and paste into the posting on blogger. I put all my photos in first and then add captions last. That being said, blogger can still be finicky - hope this helps!

I've noticed slow photo loading lately, too, and blamed it on Photobucket. It's probably Blogger.

The spacing thing drives me crazy, too. It seems so arbitrary, but then, I never studied HTML so I usually blame myself.

Unlike Jil, I compose in Blogger, and I do all the text before I add any photos. I seem to have fewer spacing problems that way. But when I want to bump the size of a photo up, parts of the caption disappear off the margin.

Would I do better to write the captions as part of the text?

As Crafty Woman says, Grrrrrrr!

I think these comments can give fellow bloggers support and ideas. Thanks, Laurie.

I love all her vacation tips! I do this with our Christmas fund and everyone gets an allotted amount. If there is anything left over, we will normally buy a family gift or something of the sort.

We never charge vacations either and I tend to pocket spending money year round to pay for the more expensive day trips through the summer.
