Winter Clean-Up

"Great, thanks for showing a picture of my butt!"
I hope that those of you who have been hit by snow are surviving the cold, the huge snow banks, the icy roads, etc.

Be sure to shovel off your decks before the next storm, as as they can collapse from the weight of the snow.  Here is a link to a post I wrote about winter maintenance in February 2010.  Handy Man and Handy Boy were working on shoveling off the back deck.

That post also shows Rob using a roof rake to scrape snow off the roof.  Unfortunately, many people are having roof collapses under the weight of this snow.  Rob is grumbling about having to "rake the roof" again, as we are supposed to get more snow tomorrow night.

Also, be sure you're prepared for an emergency.  In this post, I talked about how we stock up on supplies, which came in handy when we lost power for five days in early 2010.

Yeah, that was fun!

Have a good weekend, and stay warm and safe!

Roof raking is a SUPER idea... did you know that Roof collapse from snow is NOT covered on most Home Owner Insurance policies unless you ADD it BEFORE winter arrives? Hubby is an insurance agent and he gets lots of calls right before big snows to make sure this is covered... can't add until after the winter with his company, but something to think about.

I cannot even imagine how you must live in the snow! The most we have to clear from our driveway is the dirt and smog that collects during the weeks! Roof there is something I've never heard of!

As much as I say I miss New England [grew up there] and how much I hate Florida [where I now live], seeing photos like that makes Florida not look all that bad lol.

Stay warm!
