Handy Man's Treasures

We have two display cases that Handy Man built into the walls of our living room. He cut into the wall between the studs, made a wooden "box", and finished the outside with the same trim that we have around our doorways.

I have photos of the construction process that I'll post someday. This case is for Handy Man's "treasures." We have a second display case that holds my treasures. I'll also write about that in a future post. (Hey, I have to keep you coming back, right?)

Handy Man loves to collect antique bottles in different sizes, shapes and colors. Here is a nice web page that helps you to figure out the time period during which different bottles were made.

Those are glass drink stirrers in the yellow-ish container on the right. Can you imagine stirring a drink with a glass stirrer??

More glass stirrers, and a small inkwell.
Rob loves amethyst bottles.  He looks for old bottles at yard sales, flea markets and antique stores.

Handy Man also collects Stoddard glass bottles (which were made in New Hampshire); but we don't have room to display those yet. Time to make some more display cases!

Do you collect glass? Or, do you have any type of collection? What is it?

I do not have any old bottles, but look at them when I am out in the antique malls. Your hubby did an excellent job on these cabinets. They make his bottles look nice on display.

They sure are art objects. Just beautiful. I don't collect anything. Too small a place and I guess I haven't found anything I want more of yet.

I like this collection. I have a teal jar (not sure if it's antique but it looks cool) that I am trying to find the right thing to fill it with.

Oh his collection is right up my alley! I am a sea glass collector first and foremost but also collect glass insulators and bottles. I just love all the colors when the light shines on them and makes them glimmer! Happy VTT!

Oh i love the display for this! very cute!
I have a couple of glass bottles that are different size, shape and colors that Ive been picking up from Goodwill whenever I see them. I have no idea what they are exactly as I really didn't care when I was buying them I just thought their shape and colors were cool. I have them on my window sill as I don't have that many, but when the light comes through during the day they look so neat up there!

I love old bottles too. I have them here and there. After seeing your post, I think I need to gather them up and display them together. Makes for a much better showing. Thanks for sharing. ~~Sherry~~
